GiftSmart is a gift planning and wishlist platform that helps individuals organise occasions, create gift lists and share them with family and friends.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information that you choose to provide.

This may include:

Account Information

• Name
• Email address
• Profile photograph (optional)
• Authentication provider (Apple, Google or Email)

Gift Lists

Information you create including:

• List names
• Gift items
• Notes
• Prices
• Links to retailer websites
• Images
• Categories

Contacts & Invitations

When you invite someone you may provide:

• Display name

We only use this information to send invitations or allow list sharing.

Optional Location for Snapped Gifts

If you use the optional “Snap a gift” feature and turn on “Save where I found it”, we collect your precise location while you are using the app. This may include latitude and longitude, a readable place name and address, and the date you found the gift.

We request location permission only after you choose this option. You can choose to save a snapped gift without location, and you can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.

Communications

If you contact support we may keep copies of correspondence.

3. Information Collected Automatically

We may automatically collect:

• Device type
• Operating system
• App version
• Language
• Crash reports
• Diagnostic information
• Anonymous analytics

We do not access your precise location automatically, in the background, or when you have not chosen the optional location feature described above.

• Provide GiftSmart services
• Synchronise your gift lists
• Save the place where you chose to record that you found a gift and, when you choose, open that place in your maps app
• Send invitations
• Manage shared lists
• Send reminders
• Improve the app
• Diagnose technical issues
• Respond to support requests
• Protect against fraud or abuse

5. Gift Privacy

One of GiftSmart's core features is maintaining surprise gift purchases.

Gift reservations and purchased items are intentionally hidden from list owners until the appropriate reveal date.

Only authorised participants in a shared list can view reservation information relevant to them.

If you save a location with a gift that is added to a shared list, the place name, address and location information form part of that gift item and may be available to authorised participants who can access that gift. We do not show raw coordinates elsewhere in the GiftSmart interface.

6. Product Links

GiftSmart allows you to save links from third-party retailers.

When you open a retailer link you leave GiftSmart.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites.

If you choose “Open in Maps” for a saved gift location, we open Apple Maps on iOS or Google Maps on Android. Those services receive the location needed to show the place and handle it under their own privacy policies.

7. Analytics

We may use privacy-friendly analytics and crash reporting tools to improve the application.

These services may collect anonymous usage information including:

• Screen views
• Feature usage
• Performance metrics
• Crash logs

No analytics are used to identify you personally.

8. Notifications

If you enable notifications we may send reminders about:

• Upcoming occasions
• Shared list invitations
• Activity relating to your gift lists

You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

Your information is securely stored using industry-standard cloud infrastructure.

We use encryption for data in transit and appropriate security measures to protect stored information.

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use precise location data for advertising, marketing, profiling, or cross-app or cross-site tracking.

We only share data when necessary to:

• Operate GiftSmart
• Provide authentication services
• Deliver notifications
• Comply with legal obligations

11. Data Retention

We retain your information while your account remains active.

Optional snapped-gift location information is retained with the relevant gift item while it remains in your account or shared list, unless it is deleted or anonymised as described below.

If you delete your account:

• Personal information is removed or anonymised
• Shared content may remain where necessary for other users until removed
• Certain records may be retained where required by law

12. Your Rights

Depending on your location you may have the right to:

• Access your information
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your account

• Object to certain processing

GiftSmart is not intended for children under 13.
